Maja Janevska Ilieva (b.1976) is a photojournalist at the daily newspaper “Nova Makedonija”. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, but has started her professional career as a photojournalist in 2000 at the “Forum” weekly magazine. Then she moved working for the daily newspapers, first at “Nova Makedonija”, then for ”Dnevnik” and “Vreme” and since 2008 again for “Nova Makedonija”. Along with the professional career she continued with her education following several trainings and seminars for professional development. Among other, she followed “World Press Photo seminar 2001 – 2004”.

Her professional interest includes: news, documentary, reportage, sports, portraits et. al., in other words, her interest is connected with the range of stories produced and covered by the daily newspaper and the internet portal of “Nova Makedonija”.

She has also cooperated part-time with some governmental and non-governmental institutions, domestic and foreign organizations. She has participated in all news photography exhibitions organized by the now non-existent “Association of Photojournalists of Macedonia”, at several art photography exhibitions, as well, including “Macedonian Photography Days” and several solo exhibitions, last held in 2019, in collaboration with Velimir Žernovski. She is mother of two.
