Matej Trojačanec is a PhD student in psychology, a researcher, and a journalist working at the Metamorphosis Foundation, within the fact-checking service Vistinomer. With many years of research experience both in the country and across the region and beyond, his primary focus is on social sciences and socially engaged issues.
When it comes to disinformation and tackling it, he approaches the issue from an interdisciplinary perspective: examining intra- and interpsychological factors that influence whether and to what extent people believe the online content they consume; the socio-political phenomena and networks that enable and shape what content is promoted and where; as well as the technologies that make all of this possible. Although his current work is largely focused on reactive responses to disinformation, a key part of his efforts is also dedicated to raising the level of media literacy in the country and beyond.
