Miriam Guttmann (1994) is a talented documentary filmmaker and photographer based in Amsterdam. In her work Miriam breaches sensitive subjects, such as identity, death, female sexuality, and alienation. She does so in her own particular style, combining elements of documentary and fiction to bring real-life stories to life. She was recognized by Harpers’ Bazaar as Woman of the Week. Her graduation film premiered at IDFA, won the Award for Best Student Documentary at the Palm Springs International Short Fest and the Jury Award at NFFTY and was in the official selection for more than 21 festivals. Since then, Miriam made a primetime documentary ‘Laws of the Sea’ for Dutch television, which is nominated for “Een Tegel” (most renowned Dutch prize for journalism). Miriam’s three-part series Seeds of Deceit the first Dutch series ever to be selected for the prestigious Sundance Film festival where it premiered January 2021 and is selected for Prix Europa 2021. The series were broadcasted on Dutch television by the VPRO early 2021 and had over 1.2 million views.
