What does using artificial intelligence in day-to-day journalistic work look like? In this discussion we focus on the practical experiences of (investigative) journalists: in which areas of work AI genuinely helps, where it might pose a risk, and what needs to be paid attention to when using it, especially in investigative journalism.
In addition to the tools and specific applications, we will also discuss the stigma surrounding the use of AI in newsrooms, how it is accepted by older colleagues or colleagues who work more with traditional methods, whether AI is perceived as help or a threat, and how open editors and management are to its integration. What are the real challenges for media workers when it comes to AI, do newsrooms have the time and financial capacity for tools with monthly/annual fees, and are there sufficient skills and knowledge for recognizing, understanding, and responsibly using AI.
